As much as I claim to be a minimalist at times I don’t want to label myself as one. Generally, I don’t like labeling things or people but especially with one’s style I don’t think it’s of any help. My mood, the weather, or a book I have been reading can all equally influence my style at times and restricting myself to the minimalist wardrobe wouldn’t make any sense then, right? When I was a teenager all I would wear was black tights, denim cut offs, big chunky knits or band shirts and my beloved dr. martens. While a lot has changed since then I still like to add a bit of rock’n’roll and vintage vibes into my wardrobe from now and then.
So when I saw this beautiful mbyM velvet biker jacket in their showroom I instantly pictured the jacket with my dr. martens or these vintage inspired pumps. Due to the frosting cold temperatures that November brought to us I decided to opt for the first option. The biker jacket has the most beautiful midnight blue shade and the velvet feels very heavy and luxurious – quite unlike the velvet that you see at all high street shops at the moment. While I was in Hamburg for approximately 24hrs last weekend I received half a dozen compliments on the mbyM velvet jacket all from people I didn’t know. When a piece of clothing makes strangers talk to you – you know it was the write choice!
