WARDROBE ESSENTIALS

13 wardrobe essentials

It’s true there are some pieces every woman needs in her wardrobe. You can build infinite many outfits on these basic items. And I am about to lift the secret so pay close attention (insert drum-roll here). Be prepared this one is a long one:

The Grey Knit

It’s an important piece in your wardrobe and many people say the search for the perfect grey knit can be endless and very very frustrating. I haven’t found the perfect short grey knit yet hence the long jumper. A side note on knits: Invest in a good quality piece since you will keep it forever and you don’t really want to search for a new one a year from now right?

The Black Dress

I am a sucker for everything black but every woman should know about the little black dress (LBD) by now. My favorite black dress has a big back cut out and lace details on the hem. Your black dress should be the most flattering item in your wardrobe.

Basic Tees

This is another important thing: you need to have your basics sorted. I love striped tees so I have at least a dozen in my wardrobe. However, when it comes to black, grey and white I always struggle to find a good fit. Concerning white tees – I feel like the struggle is real. White tees are either not flattering or if the cut is right the material is so see through that it’s actually a no go without a singlet underneath. I am not a fan of singlets underneath anything so that’s really not an option for me.

The Boyfriend Shirt

Woke up feeling like you should go straight back to sleep? Put on your boyfriends shirt or if there is no man around wear your oversized shirt. It’s just the most comfortable and easy thing to do and you will always look good in it. It’s just that one big present from the universe to the woman that hates mornings (yes me included). This look proves that it works.

Culottes

Yes they arrived at the fast fashion houses meaning they arrived to the mainstream world (don’t take this as an insult please). They can be super flattering if you manage to find the right fit for your body, here is my favorite length. Also length can make all the difference here. So if you are still on the hunt for the perfect pair don’t give up on them just yet. A last tip: go for basic colors like black, grey or white if you are still a little unsure about it!

Black Skinny Jeans & Light Blue Boyfriend jeans

I have always been amazed by the effortless looks of models outside of fashion week when they literally only have to put on a white shirt and black skinny jeans and look perfect. I think it doesn’t only work for top models. I am a huge supporter of the statement “less is more”. So just try it and if it’s a sunday you might choose your super comfy boyfriend jeans to get a coffee at your favorite local café.

The Leather Mini

Some people will disagree here but I do think that a mini skirt should be something every woman should have in her wardrobe. Sure the mini skirt has a expiration date for every woman but I also think it differs from woman to woman. The day will come when your legs / knees might not be mini skirt suitable but until then you should embrace the look! On a side note for those of you who think the leather mini only looks good with high heels I will prove you different very soon with an outfit post! I think they look great with sneakers, loafers or indeed high heels it just depends on the occasion really.

The Oversized Blazer

I like to add a blazer to the before mentioned easy breathy day to day look. I think I have proven in this outfit post that a blazer can be very versatile and that your outfit possibilities are endless with the perfect blazer – it doesn’t actually have to be oversized.

 Leather Jacket

Well well well I think this one is quite easy girls. Nowadays every woman has a leather jacket in her wardrobe right? What the only possible problem is to decide on one style and one length (not possible for me I own multiple leather jackets). What sometimes can be challenging is to find the perfect fit – don’t give up because no outfit looks more effortless than an outfit with your favorite leather jacket!

White Sneakers

Sneakers are a never ending story but the white sneakers have been around for a while now, too. Personally, I love the white sneaker besides the fact that I always manage to get them extremely dirty extremely quickly. I think they look cute with your every day outfits and for those of you who are a bit more daring: ever tried your sneakers with a maxi dress? Or with a fancy little cocktail dress? Huh? Never? Well.. it’s time girls!

Mid Heel Booties

I am not really one for high heels. Don’t get me wrong I love them I just don’t like to wear them longer than 30min. That’s why I stick to my 9cm rule every bootie who is less than that is wearable for me and still kinda comfortable. That’s why I have 3 different pairs of “mid” heel booties. I love them they are all very versatile and guess what they are all black. I think I might don’t even own autumn shoes that are not black. Ups might have to go shopping soon and change that fact…or not.

Loafers

For those of you who are still with me well done. I really appreciate you are taking time to read all of this and I really hope you find this useful! Now getting back to loafers: I really like the tomboy kind of style meaning skinny jeans, boyfriend shirt and loafers. So obviously they had to be in my wardrobe essentials. Personally, I think they need to be pointy and soft leather otherwise you will never wear them and could it be any other way? I like them best in black.

Pointy Heels

Last but definitely not least are the point (mid) heels. The height of these really depends on your preferences again but for me the mid heel just works best. I currently own a pair of suede black pointy heels which literally make every outfit classy and timeless. Have you ever noticed the transformation of a woman that is wearing jeans with flats at first and then with a pair of heels? Yes heels make your legs look longer and therefore skinnier they also make you look more feminine and who doesn’t want to get all feminine sometimes?

Vielen Dank Fiona! Ja also der ist echt Klasse aber ich bezweifle, dass er an mir gut ausschauen wird. Ich bin zwar noch ein Stückchen größer als du, aber der lässt mich sicherlich trotzdem wie eine Tonne aussehen. 🙁
