For the last couple of weeks I was still able to wear my wide range of overshirts – sometimes partnered with dresses other times with silky skirts such as my middnight blue SAMSOE SAMSOE piece. Now on the other hand – just a day after the clocks were reset for winter – I won’t leave the house without a big coat and likely more than just a skirt. Of course, the drop in temperatures won’t stop me from wearing my overshirts through winter. I am already picturing several looks with my equally middnight blue ARKET overshirt: think woolen trousers or layered on top of a heavy turtleneck. May it be true that I despise the colder season for its darkness and grayness there is no season I would rather like to get dressed for. All the layering possibilities you have in autumn you just don’t get any other time of the year.
But before we get into those layering looks I wanted to share what is one of the last light looks of this year – this decade to be precise. For this outfit I returned to my old habits of heavy boots (thanks to the fashion gods for giving heavy shoes a huge comeback). Add a silk skirt to contrast the heavy boots but also add a tank top and a overshirt from the mens section to contradict yourself a little more and you are done. Honestly, I love contrasts while dressing. Otherwise, where is the fun in getting dressed in the morning?
